EZ-Link Card
The EZ-Link card offers a convenient way for people to travel on Singapore's MRT and public buses. EZ-Link is a contactless stored-value smart card that can be used to pay for traveling by the MRT and buses in Singapore. The cards are sold by EZ-Link Private Limited, a subsidiary of Singapore's Land Transport Authority. By using this card, you do not have to buy individual tickets when boarding the public transports. To encourage people to use EZ-Link, the authorities make it cheaper to travel using it than by the conventional tickets. There is a savings of a few cents for each journey you make using the card. You can buy the EZ-Link cards from the MRT stations as well as bus interchanges. The cards cost S$5.00, which is non refundable. On top of that, it comes with an initial stored value of a minimum of S$10.00. You can store up to S$100 on the card. Of the amount, S$3.00 is a deposit which is refunded. How to use the EZ-Link cardWhen traveling on the MRT and LRT, tap the card lightly on the card reader on the faregates. When the green light comes on, you can proceed through the faregate.
